Clayton Bellamy Scholarship Fund for Music and the Arts

The Clayton Bellamy Foundation for the Arts is proud to support the next generation of artists and performers. Each year, we present a $2,500 cash award and a scholarship certificate to a graduating student who demonstrates academic achievement, artistic talent, and a commitment to sharing their gifts with the community.

This scholarship is open to students in their graduating year of high school who plan to enter a recognized post-secondary fine arts program. Successful applicants will receive their award upon proof of acceptance and registration in their chosen institution.

Purpose and Nature of the Scholarship

The Clayton Bellamy Foundation for the Arts Scholarship, presented in partnership with Craig Senyk Initiatives, is designed to recognize and support the next generation of creative talent.

About the Founders
Clayton Bellamy is a JUNO Award–winning, multi-Platinum Canadian artist from Bonnyville, Alberta. A five-time Canadian Country Music Award winner and member of The Road Hammers, Clayton has dedicated his career to both performing and inspiring future generations of artists.

Craig Senyk Initiatives is a philanthropic organization committed to raising funds each year for community-based charities across Canada, with a strong focus on education and the arts.

Scholarship Focus
Priority will be given to applicants pursuing post-secondary education in music or the arts, particularly those with the intention of teaching in a public school.

Award Details
The annual scholarship consists of:

  • A $2,500 cash award

  • A formal scholarship certificate

  • Presentation of the award upon proof of acceptance to a recognized post-secondary institution

Qualification Criteria

1.Criteria:

  • The student must be a current graduate and can only apply in his/her graduating year

  • The student must have a grade twelve average of 65% or more

  • The student must be entering a recognized post-secondary training and must provide proof of registration and acceptance in a fine arts program.

  • The student must provide a letter of recommendation from the Principal of their High School

  • The student must provide a letter of recommendation from a teacher who can attest to the talent and aptitude of the student to successfully pursue a program in music or the arts.

  • The student must have performance hours in their school, in the community, and/or at events outside the Lakeland area in Alberta, out of province or internationally.

2. If more than one candidate achieves substantially identical performance in the Qualification Criteria included above, the award shall be given to the student intending to pursue additional studies as a teacher in the school system. Should further differentiation be required, the award will be given to the student with the greatest financial need. If both students are still deemed to be substantially identical, the award may be evenly divided among the candidates.

3. The recipient shall satisfy the entrance requirements of the recognized post secondary institution. If the student is not immediately attending this institution, he/she shall have until one year from their graduation to satisfy this requirement. If this is the case, payment of the scholarship shall be held in trust by the Foundation for a period not to exceed one year from their graduation until post-secondary attendance can be confirmed.

4. Submission for consideration of this award should be made no later than June 15th of the student’s graduating year. The winner will be notified by mail and the award made at the annual awards night in September.
